broken glass runway
On a sweltering day in Seoul
when my tongue was so sore
it felt like I had been
licking the pavement
I walked past honeyed houses
and diverted into a theatre made
of papier maché where I watched a film
about two musicians who fall in love
I got lost in the plot
and forgot that we had argued
but when the film ended
although I wanted you back
I felt like a fallen mannequin
at the end of a broken glass runway
